In a break from my usual Saturday (wedding) schedule, today I met a couple whose wedding I’m covering in may’09, at their venue In Ticehurst, Sussex (right near the Kent – Sussex border, I think)
Anyway, Prior to booking this wedding I had never heard of The Venue (& I like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable on the local venues) – So I went to visit the place – a scouting mission of sorts;
Its a converted Oast House, Called Swallows Oast and I must say Its really impressive, the kind of building that must have all kinds of stories- It has exposed timbers & brickwork etc. so its really full of character – and I feel it will be an amazing backdrop for the day. Here are 2 shots I took whilst there;
Its split level & pretty open-plan, so should help the whole unobtrusive photographer thing along nicely, on a technical note, those 2 pictures were shot with the 40d I’ve been testing lately, at ISO 1600, High-JPEG, with really minimal light, and yet virtually no noise – so I’m impressed with it so far!
I didn’t get any shots of outside, as the rain was a little intense for my liking.
But anyway, That’s that, Cool People – Cool venue, Can’t ask for more than that really! hopefully the weather will be a bit better than today though![]()
If anyones interested in finding more about the venue, check out their website – swallowsoast.co.uk

**obviously I can only comment on what I’ve seen today (the building), I haven’t seen the venue In action yet – so I can’t comment on food, service or anything else, But after seeing it in action next year, I’ll definitely write some more about it**
