A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of traveling to Buckinghamshire to photograph Lizzie & Duncan’s wedding.
I’d been looking forward to their wedding ever since skyping with Lizzie & hearing all about their plans – they wanted a wedding that was part garden party, part festival – all the things I love in a wedding! & with their talented, creative, bunch of friends providing lots of the entertainment, decoration & indeed food, I knew it was going to be a cracking day.
Jess & Chris’s wedding was a lot of fun! – I went to college with Jess a fair few years ago (we both studied Photography! & Jess always got better grades than I did!!) – so it was with a hint of nervousness & a lot of excitement that I went into their wedding day! But I needn’t worry, as between the incredibly welcoming people, beautiful locations, & the brilliant atmosphere they had created – It was a great wedding to be a part of! Vintage bus, DIY details galore, Jam & Scones + Jess made her own dress – This wedding had it all!
I started the day in Hellingly at Jess’s parents house, then we all boarded the wedding bus to the beautiful St. Peter & St. Pauls Church, before everyone moved onto the lovely Sussex Barn, Hellingly.
I first got to know Emily and Stuart when they were the Bridesmaid & Usher at a previous wedding I’d shot (the lovely Kate and David, who in a wonderful role reversal were Bridesmaid & Usher today!) so I knew their wedding would be a lot of fun – and I knew a lot of their friends too, so it was great to catch up with them again! Newick Rugby club sure know how to have a good time!
Emily and Stu had chosen a circus theme for their reception – with a marquee set up to look like a big-top, hula hoops, plate-spinning and a circus tent cake. Emily even arrived at the church in the most amazing clown-themed car!
Everything a wedding should be – family, friends and a lot of fun!
I had the ultra talented Heather Wilkinson helping me out at this wedding!
Kate & David got married earlier this year in Newick, a lovely little village in Sussex. Newick is a village I’d driven through more times that I can remember, but had no clue how lovely the community contained within was!
Fortunately that all changed at Kate & David’s wedding – Lovely is an understatement – from beginning to end, this crowd knew how to have fun!
Photographing Kate’s bridal preparations, at The Chequers,Maresfield, was a surreal experience in itself, as 3 of the four people in the room were my clients, all of whose weddings were rapidly approaching! In addition to Kate there was Emily, Kates’ lovely bridesmaid & Jeni, an immensely skilled make up artist. So I was certainly feeling the pressure to be on my best behaviour otherwise I would have been in for a few months of awkwardness!
Jen & Will’s wedding took place at Dodford Manor. They surrounded themselves with the people they love (including Nic & Will, who’s wedding I shot a few years ago!) & had an amazing day filled with Japanese & Iranian influences, a healthy splash of Anchorman & the wonderfully unpredictable British weather (amongst other things!)
I knew they were going to be good fun to work with, after their engagement session, and knowing some of their guests from previous weddings I knew it was going to be a relaxed, fun day. Admittedly, The weather tried to put a damper on plans, but no amount of cold & rain could contain J&Ws (& their guests) enthusiasm & happiness! Onto the story –
As I’d stayed in the same hotel as them the night before, I popped in to see the boys, who were busy writing their speeches!
Dani & Mark tied the knot at Buxted park – a lovely venue in sussex I’d been to a few times before, but never for a wedding! It’s a lovely hotel surrounded by gorgeous Sussex countryside, with a ton of great outdoor space, & a fantastic orangery (think big conservatory!) – which is bright & a really great space for parties!
Having not met D&M before their big day I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into it & I was blown away! Two sweet, creative people (Mark made their rings!), a day filled with fun, loads of fabulous details & beautiful weather – which helped enormously during the outdoor ceremony!
Becca & Dave’s wedding back in July, was all about family & friends, with everyone contributing to make their day amazing & unique! – It took place in Becca’s parents garden in an amazing marquee that had been decorated with literally miles of bunting & looked fantastic! A friend of the family made the dress, the catering was provided by someone Becca used to waitress for & Jill, Becca’s godmother made the (beautiful!) cake! Truly a team effort & the love for B&D was obvious! Was a lot of fun to be a part of!
*Nic & Wills wedding was featured on Rock My Wedding today – Head over there for lots more details & a lovely write up by Nic.*
After Nic & Wills Engagement, I knew their wedding was going to be amazing, They’re both so relaxed & really easy to get along with!
Nic’s an avid reader of Rock My Wedding, (which is where she found me, through their coverage of Aisling & Phils Wedding) and whilst she took lots of inspiration from there (details galore!), it was still a very personal celebration; a lovely, relaxed day, brimming with character & personality! A day that was all about fun & friendship, a day that was amazing to be a part of!
Their wedding took place at the beautiful Notley Abbey in Oxfordshire.
