As another year draws to a close I like to spend a little time reflecting on all that’s happened. 2014 has been really good to me, with weddings taking me far and wide, from my hometown of Brighton up to the stunning the Peak District and on to Lancashire.
I’ve been luckily enough to shoot some fantastic weddings and have met some amazing people. So I thought I’d round up the year with some of my favourite images from 2014. A huge thank you to all my 2014 couples and all the very best for 2015. And to all my 2015 couples – I’m really looking forward to working with you this year!
Chloe and James are a mega creative couple and their wedding, which took place in the grounds of Firle Place and Firle Riding School in Sussex, had a lovely village fete theme, complete with loads of outdoor circus-style games to keep their guests amused during the reception. They even had a mini tightrope – how awesome is that?!
Chloe the bride plays horn in the Uckfield Concert Brass band and her band chums played throughout the ceremony at the church and then again later at the wedding reception. But as an extra special touch the band was joined by Chloe herself on the horn. Seriously, she is one talented lady!
In a break from the traditional three course wedding breakfast Chloe and James laid on a fish and chip supper for the guests, all made fresh on site by a mobile fish and chip company, complete with optional mushy peas and lashings of tomato ketchup, salt and vinegar. As a chip connoisseur I can confirm they were utterly delicious.
And as a final awesome touch Chloe and James had hired some Charleston dancers to teach their guests a dance routine. The dancers were incredible and by the end of the night everyone was out of their seats and dancing their socks off. I bet there were some very sore feet the next day!
Chloe and James your wedding was utterly awesome. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of it and inspiring me to try my hand at juggling! x
I was really looking forward to this wedding as Annie the bride was one of the bridesmaids at Charlotte and Robin’s wedding last year. In fact, if you’ve seen Charlotte’s wedding and her bridal preparations on my blog then you might recognise the house – as Annie also got ready there.
Annie, who co-runs a design company with Charlotte, is a mega talented lady and created all her own wedding stationery, table plans and place settings – all with a classy orange and grey colour scheme. They even had a stunning cake to match!
Annie and Simon have a beautiful home in Sussex and they’d put up a huge marquee in their garden to hold the reception in. So after a lovely church ceremony in a church in Cuckfield we all headed back to Annie and Simon’s house for the wedding reception and plenty of fizz.
This was such a beautiful wedding, a fab couple, stunning Autumn light and plenty of fun and laughter. It was really lovely to see some familiar faces! Mega congratulations Annie & Simon. Thanks for having me along to photograph your beautiful day! x
Notley Abbey in Oxfordshire is a truly gorgeous venue, especially when the sun is shining, so I was really looking forward to shooting Ariadna and Matt’s wedding there earlier this month.
Spanish-born Ari met English Matt while they were at University, and their wedding was very much a reflection of anglo-spanish influences, with friends and family flying in from across the globe for the wedding celebrations. And a first for any of the weddings I’ve shot was that all the speeches were in Spanish – really wished I’d paid more attention in my Spanish classes at school!
We were really lucky with the weather for most of the day, and I was able to steal Ari and Matt away for some couple shots. The light was so beautiful in the afternoon and their couple shots are definitely some of my recent favourites.
Ari & Matt, you were a joy to work with it was a total pleasure to photograph your beautiful wedding x
