A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of traveling to Buckinghamshire to photograph Lizzie & Duncan’s wedding.
I’d been looking forward to their wedding ever since skyping with Lizzie & hearing all about their plans – they wanted a wedding that was part garden party, part festival – all the things I love in a wedding! & with their talented, creative, bunch of friends providing lots of the entertainment, decoration & indeed food, I knew it was going to be a cracking day.
Emma and Mike opted for a lovely intimate wedding, with just their very closest family and friends in attendance. The ceremony took place in Horsham Registry Office and then it was off to the nearby Black Jug pub for post-wedding celebratory drinks.
Katy and James’ wedding was an absolute corker! Scorching hot weather, a fabulous couple, mega friendly guests, a beautiful location and tons of gorgeous details.
Katy and James wanted dual coverage so they booked both Heather and I for their big day. When we checked the weather reports the day before and saw the possibility of heavy thunder storms/sun we decided to pack welly boots (luckily we didn’t need the wellies!) and sun tan lotion before heading off to East Meon in Hampshire to meet up with Katy and her bridal party who were getting ready at the local B&B.
Last month I headed off to Nymans garden near Handcross Hill in Sussex for Kim and Lee’s wedding. I’ve shot many a wedding at Nyman’s and on a sunny day, when all the flowers are in bloom, it really is a beautiful venue!
After the ceremony we all headed back to Kim & Lee’s house for a champagne reception and BBQ. Kim and Lee have a fantastic home in the Sussex countryside overlooking fields – they have a whole host of animals including pigs, horses and two HUGE Great Danes.
As well as a BBQ guests were treated to an incredible sweetie bar, a magician and a live music. Later in the evening local band The Iron Boot Scrapers (a well-known Brighton busking band) were on hand to get all the guests up and dancing into the evening.
Such a wonderful happy day. Congratulations Kim & Lee!
Here’s a bit of midsummer gorgeousness for you in the form of Leah & Adam’s relaxed bohemian wedding.
Leah and Adam are one cool couple, so it goes without saying that they had a wedding to match, full to bursting with totally awesome details!
The wedding ceremony took place at Nyman’s Gardens and Leah and her family were staying at a cottage nearby the night before, so I met up with them there for the bridal preparations. It was also great to see Jeni Dodson, whose wedding I shot last year, doing Leah’s hair and makeup.
I spent a bit of time with Leah before heading over to Nyman’s to meet up with Adam and the rest of the wedding guests. And I was just in time to catch Adam having a final bit of guitar practice ready to play as Leah walked up the aisle to the Loggia. You don’t get more romantic than that!
After the ceremony guests were treated to a picnic lunch on the lawns of Nymans so I took the chance to steal Leah and Adam away for a few portraits in Nyman’s grounds.
Later on in the day we all headed off to nearby Copsale Hall for an outdoor wedding reception, catered by Brighton supper club hostess Cantina. The food was INCREDIBLE! As for details, woah, there were homemade cakes, outdoor games, (including pig throwing!) meadow flowers in jam jars, and all the menus and labels were designed by groom Adam, who is a designer by day.
This was such a great wedding to shoot, fantastic people, a mega creative couple, glorious weather and details a plenty!
Leah and Adam, I hope you had a fantastic time on your camper van honeymoon travels! x
At weddings, I always try and become a part of whatever group of people I’m working with. I love it when guests ask me how I know the bride & groom, and whether I was a friend of their’s before they booked me to capture their day!
Rarely does it come as easy as with Holly & Nick, & their guests – the friendliest, most welcoming bunch of people you could hope to meet! A fantastic combination of folks from the UK & Denmark – Brought together over a mutual love of Holly & Nico… & Real Ale.
When I arrived at Holly’s parents house the morning of her & Nicks wedding, the place was a hive of activity, everyone was contributing – from final checks to the marquee, to tapping barrels & labelling up the beer van, to assembling the buttonholes, to attaching balloons to lampposts! – everyone was involved & working hard to ensure the day went perfectly! But never too busy to offer me a cup of tea of make me feel welcome! (Thank you!)
It was obvious how much love there was for H&N & I was so pleased to be there to document it all! I love days with tons of character & personality – suffice to say, their day had pints of it! (keeping the real ale theme going!)
There are a ton of pictures, but anyone that makes it to the end will be rewarded with a rave & some amazing dancing!
