Crawley Wedding : Kylie & Gez

19th December 2010

A Saturday, a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Kylie & Gez’s wedding! Now, 5 weeks before there wedding I hadn’t even heard of Kylie & Gez, they were putting together their wedding in a very short space of time & only contacted me a few weeks before the big day! But from meeting them, listening to their plans, I knew their wedding was going to be a relaxed affair & I knew I wanted to be a part of it!!

Then we did a little engagement session a week before the big day & I found how insanely easy Kylie & Gez are to photograph, so I knew this was going to be one Saturday to remember!! and it was!!

I started the day with Kylie at a Bed & Breakfast in Rusper, Near Horsham, Hawkesbourne House, besides being a nightmare to find (Suffice to say, Satnav & I are no longer talking…), its was an absolutely lovely location!!

Kylie had some beautiful accessories & some fabulous shoes (that’s it, my last shred of guy credibility - out the window.)

& an awesome vintage wedding dress…

I shoot from the minute I arrive, to the minute I leave… no moment gets left behind… It’s a good look Kylie!!

Kylie wasn’t expecting her Mum to be there, but she made the trip all the way from Australia & surprised her, by turning up on her doorstep a few days before the wedding!! Awesome Mum!! Just Awesome!!

Kylie’s mum also brought with some ideas for photographs!! – Chaise Lounge anyone?

Ok, now my memories not great… but I may have suggested the trampoline…

Next step! – onto the local registry office!! Crawley Registry Office to be precise!

& here’s Gez!

Massive, massive thanks to the Registrars – totally relaxed, friendly & very helpful!! They allowed me to stay at the front, which is easily my favourite place to be!!

Although being at the back has its advantages – gorgeous light!!

Now.. this next shot, I stepped out after the ceremony, to get a shot through the doors – Kylie & Gez then left via another door… I appreciate this probably looked like I misjudged the situation… and waited patiently at the wrong exit… (*pokes out tongue!*)… but no, I was going for the arty, voyeur framing…. it’s how I roll…

After the ceremony, it was onto Buchan Park, the same location we visited for their engagement session, to get some pictures!! I always try and make my grooms look cool, suave & sophisticated… but somehow Gez even managed this holding shoes & a bouquet… what. a. legend!.

Kylies shoes, whilst pretty – weren’t ideal for walking… I think wearing socks would have completed the sandal look, but you work with what you’ve got…

How is it that all my clients are gorgeous?? – Making them look good is eaaaaaasy =)

Time for those shoes to make an appearance me thinks! -

After a little while in the park, it was time to head over to The Plough & Attic Rooms for their drinks reception!

They had a strict dress code… I hope Kylie & Gez were smart enough….

After everyone had had a drink & we’d done a few group shots, it was time to head upstairs for their meal! – & that means one thing… Details!!

Thanks Kylie & Gez, for including me in your day!! & your friends & family for welcoming me so warmly!! – Time well spent!

Comments:

  • That’s all rather lovely. The trampoline sums it all up. I feel buoyant having looked at all these pics.

  • Looooove this set Simon. See how many ‘o’s I used there? That means I like it a lot. Apparently.

Gorgeous couple, great light and more importantly, great control of it by the photographer. Processed beautifully as per.

    Nice work.

  • Ian
