After months and months of what seemed like never-ending rain the weather decided to buck up its ideas up in time for Yasmin and Alex’s spring Ecology Pavilion wedding in Mile End, London.
I had Heather along shooting with me this time so that we could cover Yasmin and Alex’s wedding prep simultaneously. In fact Heather has already worked with Alex on a few of her own photography projects so we felt incredibly privileged to be chosen to shoot his wedding to the gorgeous Yasmin.
Yasmin and Alex’s wedding was a day of two halves: the first was an intimate morning ceremony with just close friends and family at Stoke Newington Town Hall and then a lovely brunch at a nearby florists café.
Later in the day we headed over to the Ecology Pavilion in East London to join over 100 more guests for a more formal Nikkah (an Islamic marriage ceremony that lasts for about an hour with readings, prayers and wisdom from an Imam.)
I’ve covered many weddings from a variety of different cultures and religions, including Indian Weddings, (and we’ve recently added indian wedding photography and videography packages to our offering – exciting times!) – but Alex & Yasmin’s day was such a beautiful blend of east & west – it was truly awesome to be a part of. Combining elements from both cultures created the most unique day, from the more relaxed morning at the town hall through to a more formal religious ceremony – the day was all about Alex and Yasmin coming together and really captured both of their spirits beautifully.
Such a colourful wedding, full of touching traditions, happiness and spring sunshine.
So far, we’ve not mentioned the food – but it needs its own section – it was incredible, such a wide range of flavours and spices – a real treat (all put together by the wonderful Jada, whose wedding we also photographed!) I’m not normally a spicey food eater, but the balance of flavours and the combinations were just amazing – Of course, we had lots of photography work to be doing, so we couldn’t sit for too long to enjoy it – but its probably a good thing, as we would have ate ourselves into food comas!
Alex and Yasmin – huge congratulations. You’re both beyond lovely and it was an absolute pleasure to shoot your beautiful wedding.
