Jess & Chris’s wedding was a lot of fun! – Full to the brim of gorgeous moments. Their wedding was incredibly special for me on a personal level, as I went to college with Jess a fair few years ago (we both studied Photography! & Jess always got better grades than I did!) – so when she asked If I’d photograph her & Chris’s wedding It was an easy decision.
This personal connection also meant that I had more than a hint of nervousness & a lot of excitement going into their wedding day!
But I needn’t worry, as between the incredibly welcoming people – Jess’s family were just so immensely relaxed – a complete pleasure to be around in the morning, and the insanely beautiful locations – The Sussex barn is a cracking venue & the brilliant atmosphere they had created – It was a great wedding to be a part of!
The Sussex Barn is a beautiful 400 year old barn on a working farm, in Hellingly. The layout lends itself to relaxed summers afternoons with guests relaxing in the courtyard – with it’s stunning views over the surrounding countryside
Having grown up in Hellingly, it was the obvious choice for Jess to get married, and she really made it her own by adorning the barn with lots of beautiful DIY details and literally miles of bunting.
Jess is an immensely creative soul, and the attention to detail, personality and spirit she weaved into her day was a joy to witness – from making her own dress, to the aforementioned bunting.
We started the day in Hellingly at Jess’s parents house, where Jess had surrounded herself with a collection of her nearest and dearest friends and family – the house was a hive of activity with everyone doing their own makeup and fighting over which mirrors to use – but in a household with 3 girls, I’m sure Jess’ parents were used to this!
After the bridesmaids were ready in their beautifully unique pastel rainbow dresses, and Jess was ready in her bespoke wedding dress we all boarded the ultra cool vintage wedding bus and headed to the local St. Peter & St. Paul’s Church for a beautiful ceremony.
After the ceremony, everyone moved onto their reception venue, the wonderful Sussex Barn in Hellingly for an afternoon of tea, jam and scones, music, laughter and plenty of dancing!
