Weddings at The Fitzherbert Room
The smallest of the wedding ceremony rooms at Brighton Town hall is the Fitzherbert Room, situated alongside The Regency room on the ground floor. It has a capacity of 8 (if you don’t value personal space).
It’s ideal for small, intimate wedding ceremonies and elopements. We’ve had the pleasure of capturing many weddings there over the years and it always proves popular. In fact, when our little girl was just a year old, a lovely couple – Laura & John, asked us to witness their wedding alongside photographing it and as they needed us both (to witness) and as we didn’t have any babysitting, they invited us to bring her along – our little girls very first wedding! Good Times!
Lucie & Rob’s Fitzherbert Room Wedding
Lucie and Rob got married in the beautifully intimate Fitzherbert Room. It was just Lucie, Rob and their two friends who acted as witnesses – along with the registrars of course, which created the most wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. I love small weddings and elopements and this was a perfect example of how to do it the right way.
After the ceremony, they headed towards the delicious Salt Rooms on Brighton seafront, but en route, they spent some time laughing, throwing confetti and standing in front of pretty walls… All in the name of beautiful wedding photographs, of course!
Jen & Steves Elopement, with Marilyn and Elvis
Steve & Jen’s wedding (part one! – part two can be found here!!) took place in Brighton – it was a secret ceremony with only myself and two witnesses present – witnesses who go by the name Marilyn & Elvis…
Jeni is an amazing, incredibly well-regarded makeup artist so for her to choose me to document their wedding(s!) was an insanely huge honour (no pressure!!), as she’s worked with so many different photographers, across so many different genres – including high fashion shoots for the top magazines & brands. it was such a compliment that she would pick me to capture their weddings!
Anyway, We started off having a little engagement session fun around the Lanes of Brighton & ended up with a wedding at Brighton town hall, it was a roller coaster of a day. One that I am immeasurably grateful to have been a part of!
Their wedding has also been featured on RocknRollBride, so head over there for the full write up!
Laura & Johns Brighton Elopement
Heather & I had the absolute honour of not only photographing but being witnesses for the elopement of Laura & John at Christmas time. They travelled down from Northamptonshire for the day & tied the knot at Brighton Town Hall.
During the booking & enquiry process we found out that we wouldn’t be able to get childcare for our daughter Robyn that day, so I told Laura that I could go & be their photographer, but that Heather wouldn’t be able to act as witness – as she would have to be on mummy duty, but they said they’d be delighted to have Robyn along too!
It’s not something we’d normally do – understandably not many folks would want a strangers baby at their wedding – but they’re such a chilled couple, with a daughter of their own (& another en-route.), they knew the situation & welcomed our little human into their day. So not only is this Laura & Johns special day (first & foremost, of course!), but it’s also Robyn’s first wedding – we like to start them working early here at Faz HQ!
Hopefully, this guide has given you some inspiration for your own Fitzherbert Room Wedding, but if you need any more inspiration or tips, do let us know.
If you’re looking for someone to capture your special day – we’d love to har from you.
