One of the best compliments a wedding photographer can receive is to get a booking from a fellow wedding ‘tog’, so I was massively excited when mega talented Jacqui McSweeney booked me to shoot her wedding to Andy in March. No pressure there at all. Eek!
Jacqui and Andy had planned a lovely small wedding all based in Brighton, with a ceremony at the Royal Pavilion and a good knees up at the Caribou Rooms in Hove. I’ve been lucky to shoot quite a few weddings at the Pavilion now and it’s a always a such a treat (plus it’s just down the road from my house so I got a bit of a lie in that day – result!)
I started the day over at Jacqui & Andy’s flat to meet up with the girls for the bridal prep. Jacqui is lucky enough to be best of friends with Joanne Fleming, a massively talented local dress designer, and Jo also designed Jacqui’s wedding dress – it was seriously stunning! Once the girls were all in their wedding finery we headed off to the Pavilion to meet up with Andy and the rest of the guests before the ceremony.
The registrar for the ceremony was the aptly named Mr Love (seriously!). In fact, seeing Mr Love is the main man of registrars in the local area, and he officiated over the very first wedding I shot many, many years ago!
After the ceremony we had time for a few photos outside the Pavilion in the gorgeous spring sunshine before heading off to the Caribou Rooms in Hove for the reception – I also managed to steal the happy couple away for a few quick couple shots in the street nearby before leaving them to enjoy the rest of their day.
Jacqui and Andy, it was a total pleasure working with you both. Thanks so much for letting me be part of your beautiful day!
