Richmond Park Wedding – Arni & Mark

Arni and Mark were blessed with glorious sunshine for their wedding at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park in London.

Pembroke Lodge is a stunning venue in one of the loveliest areas of London, Richmond. We get to go to Surrey for a lot of weddings – at places like Hampton Court House, but Pembroke Lodge is a new one to us – something special for sure – situated right in the middle of the park surrounded by acres of gorgeous countryside and an abundance of curious deer – and with the most beautiful wisteria growing over the main entrance to the house – Its idyllic and a truly perfect spot for a wedding!

Arni and Mark are a lovely relaxed couple, Mark is the Head Chef at the nearby Bingham Hotel, so they filled their day with wonderful food, and clearly have a keen eye for details. Arni was keen to ensure that their friends and family, many of whom had travelled far and wide to be a part of their day were all well taken care of, and treated to a variety of delicious hand-picked hors d’oeuvres and wonderfully selected wines.

Arni’s bridal prep took place in the Richmond Hill Hotel, just a few moments drive from Richmond Park and Pembroke Lodge, where the ceremony and reception took place.

After the most beautiful, intimate and emotional ceremony, I managed to steal Arni and Mark away for some couple shots up on Richmond Hill and a few around the park, before we headed back to join the rest of the wedding party at the Lodge for the rest of the day’s celebrations.

Arni had told me about her plans for the evenings entertainment, it was a big secret from everyone else – she had hired a singing waiter to surprise Mark by performing during the evening. Shortly after their meal had finished had everyone was ushered into the lounge for drinks and music, and whilst the ‘waiter’ was serving drinks – he suddenly burst into song! Half the guests were delighted and half confused – but everyone was laughing and having a great time! Surprise successful!

After this Arni and her friends treated everyone to a Bollywood inspired performance, and by the end everyone was joining in and having an incredible time!

All in all, a beautiful wedding, a stunning venue and a wonderful couple – congratulations Arni and Mark!

Ham Polo Club Wedding – Natalie & Warren

One thing about English summer weddings is that you can’t guarantee sunshine, but the heavy rain clouds did nothing to dampen spirits at Natalie and Warren’s lovely wedding in Richmond upon Thames.

Heather and I spent a bit of time with Natalie and the girls for the bridal preparations, before heading over to meet Warren at the ultra plush Richmond Hill Hotel right next to Richmond Park in Surrey.

Warren is probably the most relaxed groom I’ve ever met, and happily chatted away to us while calmly going about his wedding preparations. Check out the shots of his wedding shoes in the post below: utterly amazing!

After the wedding ceremony at the majestic St Mary Magdalene church in central Richmond, we headed on to Ham Polo Club for the wedding reception. The wedding party was treated to plenty of fizz, a sumptuous wedding breakfast, much laughter and Natalie and Warren’s amazing first dance to Billy Ocean’s Caribbean Queen, complete with outfit change! Good times!

Brighton College Wedding – Charlotte & Robin

Charlotte and Robin got married at St. John the Baptist Church in Kemptown.

They used the ever popular Brighton wedding venue, Brighton College for their reception.

Brighton College’s Great Hall was decorated to perfection with shades of purple.

They did their photos on the lawns in the quad and around the chapel.

An Incredibly Luxurious day from beginning to end.

Charlotte & Robin are two of the loveliest people you can meet, Robin is a world reknown surgeon and Charlotte is an incredibly talented graphic designer who owns a design studio in Brighton – so going into their wedding it was clearly going to be beautiful, interesting, sophisticated and elegant.

It was such a pleasure to photograph their big day, Not least because their venues were steeped in my own personal history – but also because they are just thoroughly lovely people to spend time with.

West Wittering Wedding – Emily & Stuart

I first got to know Emily and Stuart when they were the Bridesmaid & Usher at a previous wedding I’d shot (the lovely Kate and David, who in a wonderful role reversal were Bridesmaid & Usher today!) so I knew their wedding would be a lot of fun – and I knew a lot of their friends too, so it was great to catch up with them again! Newick Rugby club sure know how to have a good time!

Emily and Stu took over a field in West Wittering (A cute seaside town, on the Hampshire side of Sussex) and had chosen a circus theme for their reception – they had a marquee set up to look like a big-top, hula hoops, plate-spinning and a circus tent cake. Emily even arrived at the church in the most amazing clown-themed car!

Everything a wedding should be – family, friends and a lot of fun!

I had the ultra talented Heather Wilkinson helping me out at this wedding!

Dodford Manor Wedding Photographer – Jen & Will

Jen & Will’s wedding took place at Dodford Manor. They surrounded themselves with the people they love (including Nic & Will, who’s wedding I shot a few years ago!) & had an amazing day filled with Asian & Iranian influences, a healthy splash of Anchorman & the wonderfully unpredictable British weather (amongst other things!)

I knew they were going to be good fun to work with, after their engagement session, and knowing some of their guests from previous weddings I knew it was going to be a relaxed, fun day. Admittedly, The weather tried to put a damper on plans, but no amount of cold & rain could contain J&Ws (& their guests) enthusiasm & happiness! Onto the story –

As I’d stayed in the same hotel as them the night before, I popped in to see the boys, who were busy writing their speeches!

Heather & Tim

Heather & Tim are rarely in the UK, but after getting to know them a little bit over the internet, it was such a thrill to join them for their wedding, I’ve photographed a handful of Grittenham Barn Weddings & they’re always awesome!

Heather & Tim’s was the epitome of what weddings are about – A chance to celebrate, catch up with old fiends and have a great time, Friends and family alike contributed in a variety of ways to infuse character and charm throughout the day! From the chef, to the bartender, to the serving staff – everyone had a personal connection to Heather, Tim or their friends – a fantastic thing to witness!

I’m always treated amazingly well by my clients and their guests, and H&Ts wedding was no exception – I arrived a little earlier to the bridal preps than I was expected, So early Heather hadn’t returned from the Hairdressers yet, but I was welcomed & treated to breakfast with the family (Thank you!!) A wonderful day indeed, great people, a great wedding venue and tons of happy memories!

Buxted Park Wedding Photographer – Danielle & Mark

Dani & Mark tied the knot at Buxted park – a lovely venue in sussex I’d been to a few times before, but never for a wedding! It’s a lovely hotel surrounded by gorgeous Sussex countryside, with a ton of great outdoor space,  & a fantastic orangery (think big conservatory!) – which is bright & a really great space for parties!

Having not met D&M before their big day I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into it & I was blown away! Two sweet, creative people (Mark made their rings!), a wonderfully emotional jewish wedding ceremony, a day filled with fun, loads of fabulous details & beautiful weather – which helped enormously during the outdoor ceremony!

Michelham Priory Wedding – Becca & Dave

Becca & Dave’s wedding back in July, was all about family & friends, with everyone contributing to make their day amazing & unique! – It took place in Becca’s parents garden in an amazing marquee that had been decorated with literally miles of bunting & looked fantastic! A friend of the family  made the dress, the catering was provided by someone Becca used to waitress for & Jill, Becca’s godmother made the (beautiful!) cake! Truly a team effort &  the love for B&D was obvious! Was a lot of fun to be a part of!

Pangdean Barn Wedding – Kate & Lincoln

After meeting them, hanging out with them for their engagement session in Surrey & getting to know them over the course of a year – Kate & Lincoln’s Pangdean Barn wedding was a day that couldn’t arrive quick enough for me – every time I saw that Kate had visited my website (My web stats show a lot of visits from San Francisco, I don’t know anyone other than K&L in SF!) the anticipation increased just that bit more! So even though the weather was not kind (massive understatement), it was still a brilliant, beautiful day filled to the brim with emotion, excitement & fun.

I adore doing weddings for people who live overseas – often they haven’t seen their friends and family in some time, especially all together – so it really adds to the sense of occasion and makes the photographs all the more important.

Kate grew up around Sussex, so it was only natural for her to come back here for her wedding, to get married at the family church and celebrate amongst her Sussex based family and friends. They also brought a not-so-small contingent of world travellers, with people hailing from various parts of America and all across the world – so many wonderfully interesting people!

They got married at the beautiful St Peters Church in Ardingly, before heading over to one of my favourite local venues Pangdean Barns. I do love a good barn wedding & Pangdean Barn weddings are always brilliant, Michael, Nikki and the team always have everything running like clockwork and even on a day of pretty bad weather everything went smoothly.

Slight side story, I was talking to Kate during the day, and mentioned how disappointed I was for them that the weather had turned out so badly – certainly not something to expect in the middle of summer! But Kate said something that that will stick with me for ever.

She said that the weather didn’t matter, and that she was grateful that I was there capturing photographs of her friends and family having an amazing time, that those were the images that mattered the most to her and those were the images I was capturing.

That truly resonated with me and is certainly something I’ll carry with me forever.

It’s not about the weather, the location or the details – of course, all of those things add to the story, matter and deserve capturing. But the point is – weddings are about the people. It’s the people, the moments and the personal stories where the true magic of wedding photography lies.

Onward with the important story! I started the day briefly with Lincoln in the pub. Mainly as I’d already been to see Kate, when the bridesmaids, in various state of preparedness, ran away like startled deer – albeit way more glamorous. Meeting with the boys for a little gave them all time to prepare for the day, so by the time I came back they were excited to be in photos!
