Laura & James got married in the Peak District, at the brilliant Thornbridge Hall – I absolutely love travelling for weddings, There’s something very special about heading to an unfamiliar area (especially one as beautiful as the peak district!) & being able to fully immerse yourself in the wedding for the weekend.
I made the long journey up the day before their wedding, to ensure I was there on time & stayed in a hotel with some of the wedding party – It’s great being able to go straight in and become a part of the group & atmosphere – not only does it really help me to get a feel for who everyone is, and capture the real story of the wedding – it’s also a lot of fun!
Although I thought it best to leave the shots of rum to the guests, I imagine there were sore heads the following morning!
My journey was the smallest part of the story though, given that the lovely Laura and James had traveled roughly 4500 miles, from Dubai, where they live, to get married here surrounded by their family and friends.
Thornbridge Hall is an truly stunning venue, surrounded by 12 acres of quintessentially English gardens, right in the middle of the Peak District – which I firmly believe to be one of the most beautiful parts of England.
It was designed at the end of the 19th Century to create a vision of ‘1,000 shades of green’ which the owner wanted to be able to see from his bedroom window – I think he succeeded as the gardens are absolutely stunning.
This was my first Thornbridge Hall wedding, but it’s such an incredible venue, I would hugely love to go back there again for more weddings, especially considering the weather wasn’t the best – (I would just love to explore the surrounding area on a drier day!) But, Laura & James dint let the weather get them down though, they had such a fun filled day! It was a total pleasure to photograph.
Our story starts with Laura & the girls getting ready at Thornbridge Hall – a truly wonderful surrounding to prepare for a very special day -The girls all looked terribly elegant in their matching silk robes and the amount of wonderful details Laura had to photograph certainly kept me busy – from her incredible dress to her stunning Jimmy Choos – Laura is a bride with impeccable taste.
James had sent over some presents and had asked me to capture the emotions on Lauras face as she read the accompanying card – I think he knew what were were aiming for, but I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of their story –
Keep going to the end for a horse and carriage, a personalized message from a sheikh, a shisha tent, an incredible 80’s band and a full on nightclub experience – this wedding had it all!
