Cait & Sams Brighton Wedding

I’d been looking forward to Cait and Sam’s wedding for a long time, even before her enquiry properly landed in my inbox. Cait is Anna’s sister, and I photographed Anna and Rich’s wedding back in 2021. That was one of those Sussex weddings where the families were warm, open and completely themselves. So when Cait got in touch about her own Brighton wedding, I had a good feeling about it straight away.

Over the past few years I’ve crossed paths with this group at several weddings across Brighton and Sussex. They are well connected, loyal to one another and genuinely enjoy celebrating together. Quite a few of their friends have booked me too, so walking into Cait and Sam’s day felt less like starting fresh and more like stepping back into a familiar circle.

Cait was clear from the outset. She wanted a low-key, laid back day. Something that prioritised family and friendships over production. No pressure. No overcomplication. As a Wedding photographer in Sussex, who spends most weekends documenting real connections rather than orchestrating them, that approach suits me perfectly.

The day began in the heart of Brighton at Brighton Town Hall, with around twenty of their closest family and friends gathered for an intimate ceremony. Brighton Town Hall is one of those civic buildings that quietly overdelivers. It’s elegant without being imposing, and it works beautifully for couples who want to keep the legal ceremony simple before shaping the rest of the day in their own way.

After the ceremony, the celebration shifted along the seafront towards Hove, where they had taken over Oeuf Café for the evening. As the guest list grew and more friends arrived, the atmosphere naturally lifted. What started as a small, intimate gathering in central Brighton evolved into a lively Sussex celebration by the coast.

What I enjoyed most was how consistent the tone stayed throughout. Whether in the quiet rooms of Brighton Town Hall or later among a hundred friends in Hove, Cait and Sam kept it grounded. They were present. They laughed easily. They made time for people.

A Brighton wedding that began with twenty guests in the Town Hall and unfolded into a relaxed, heartfelt Sussex celebration by the sea.
