Rosie and Alistair were married at Chichester Cathedral, with their reception at Goodwood House. It was one of those days that felt properly English in the best sense. Traditional in parts, but still very much their own.
The morning began at The Goodwood Hotel, which kept everything close to the Estate from the start. Rosie and Alistair are originally from Sussex but now live in Switzerland, so there was something meaningful about returning home to be married at the Cathedral. The ceremony was conducted by Bishop Michael, a close friend of Rosie’s family, and that familiarity changed the tone immediately. It felt personal rather than formal.
Chichester Cathedral has a presence of its own. High ceilings, light filtering through, a real sense of occasion. When the ceremony finished, guests stepped outside to find a vintage double decker bus waiting to take them on to Goodwood. While everyone was boarding, I headed straight for the Estate to be in place as the bus made its way up the sweeping driveway. Seeing it arrive against the backdrop of Goodwood House was worth the quick turnaround.
Drinks were held on the lawns, with photographs across the Goodwood Estate while guests settled in. Rosie works in events, so everything was carefully considered without feeling over-managed. The reception inside the House carried that same balance. Elegant, but still relaxed.
Later in the evening they revealed one of their personal touches. A giant illuminated sign spelling out “Cogwalks”, a play on their new married name. It brought a real lift to the dance floor and made for some great moments once the party properly got going.
What stood out most, though, was how grounded they both were. For all the scale of the Cathedral and the setting at Goodwood House, Rosie and Alistair kept the focus on the people around them. It felt like a homecoming as much as a wedding.
A Sussex wedding that started beneath the vaulted ceilings of Chichester Cathedral and ended in the glow of Goodwood House, full of warmth and intent.
