Vicky and Ryan celebrated their wedding in September at The Kennels, part of the wider Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. The Kennels are more intimate than some of the other Goodwood wedding venues, and with just eleven guests it felt like the perfect fit for their day.
The morning started at a nearby B&B before everyone gathered at The Kennels for the ceremony. It was dry and bright, with lovely evening light later on, so we were able to make the most of the gardens. With such a small group, the whole day felt easy. No rushing between spaces. No big transitions. Just everyone together.
Vicky is a professional makeup artist working in television, so of course she did her own makeup. It was beautifully done and completely her. A friend took care of her hair and the overall look felt chic without trying too hard. Ryan is a photographer and a professional retoucher, so yes, the pressure was technically on, but they were both relaxed and great to work with. Their families were exactly the same.
The ceremony, drinks and meal all took place at The Kennels, which meant the celebration could flow naturally from one part of the day to the next. What really stood out was how easily the two families came together. With only eleven people there is nowhere to hide, and there was no need to. By the time dinner was underway it felt like one close group rather than two sides.
As the sun began to set we stepped out briefly for some portraits in that softer light. Later on, the golf cart came into play which brought a bit of energy and laughter to the evening. It suited them.
This was the first of two weddings for Vicky and Ryan, with another planned in Dublin later in the year. Choosing The Kennels also had a quiet link to family history, as Vicky’s parents were married at Goodwood House. With the House visible in the distance, that connection felt meaningful without needing to be announced.
