Lucy & Seans Autumn Nymans wedding

In September, Nymans shifts slightly. The light becomes a little crisper, shadows a touch stronger, and the trees begin to hint at orange while the borders are still full of colour. Lucy and Sean chose it for exactly what it is. A place they already loved. Somewhere they could imagine returning to long after the wedding day.

They are big National Trust people and had no interest in a purpose-built wedding venue. Nymans felt more like them. Familiar, outdoors, relaxed. The ceremony took place beneath the Loggia, with bright September sun cutting through the columns and guests gathered close. It was a small, intimate group, which made every glance feel amplified. During the ceremony, the way their families looked at them said as much as the vows themselves.

Afterwards, drinks were held in front of the Loggia before we wandered into the gardens for portraits. At that time of year there’s real contrast in the light. Crisp highlights, deeper greens, flashes of orange in the trees. They had mentioned loving a good confetti moment, and theirs had been a community effort, friends and family drying flowers from their own gardens to make it happen. It felt personal, not bought in.

Lucy and Sean are known for their mirrored sunglasses, so naturally they made an appearance. We had a bit of fun with the reflections while keeping everything true to the setting. It could have tipped into gimmicky, but with them it didn’t. It felt like a small nod to who they are in everyday life.

What stood out most was how well they move together. They mirror each other in the best way. Calm, thoughtful, steady. The loving glances during the ceremony weren’t staged or exaggerated. Just two people who clearly share the same loves and back each other fully.

A bright September wedding at Nymans that leaned into nature, family and the comfort of being somewhere that already meant something to them.
